Sunday, December 12th, 2010I had never tried Cafe Mare restaurant in Santa Cruz before this visit. I don’t usually eat out all that much, but this night was different so I stepped out of my box and ate at one of the best Italian Restaurants in Santa Cruz. These are my reviews of Cafe Mare in downtown Santa Cruz.
My boyfriend and I were just walking by trying to find a good place to eat. We were looking at menus outside restaurants and we stopped at Cafe Mare which is known as one of the best restaurants in Santa Cruz. A guy, who ended up being our waiter, told us that “they had really good food.” I thought the menu was pretty expensive for what we were looking for which was under $8 for each. But we decided to check it out because the restaurant looked really nice and romantic, which it was, even though we were wearing sweats and t-shirts.
The ambiance of Cafe Mare restaurant in Santa Cruz was amazing. There was candlelight at every table, dimmed lighting, and Italian music in the background.
I liked our waiter, because he had a sense of humor when I asked him where the bathroom was. He also had really good recommendations for us. For example, the gelato and the tiramisu.
My boyfriend had this eggplant dish was really excellent and I had the veal. The veal was okay. I didn’t really know what to think of the veal since it was my first time eating it. It wasn’t bad, it was more interesting. I love my gelato. He said it had a flan kind of taste to it and it was just really really good. I’d have it again now if I could.
The whole place deserves a five star. Although I really didn’t like how expensive it was to me for just an ordinary day to go eat out. Still really good and very nice and if I was rich I’d go everyday. I would most definitely go back to Cafe Mare in Santa Cruz.
