Traveling Cross Country: Pack Car Emergency Kit

A cross country car trip is a rite of passage for many Americans in our automobile loving culture. The wind blowing through your hair from an open window, seeing no other cars for miles, and visiting wacky tourist attractions become stuff of legends and classic American roadside novels. However, while the trip itself can be quite the romantic adventure, you still have to prepare for the unexpected emergency. When you are preparing a car for a cross country trip, there are obvious checkups you will want to do to the car, such as check the life of the brakes and the tires. You want to change the oil. But you also want to pack a car emergency kit, and keep it in an easily accessible location in the car. The kit should have food and water in case you are stranded, as well as roadside flares and first aid supplies.
