When you are preparing a car for a cross country trip, there are obvious checkups you will want to do to the car, such as check the life of the brakes and the tires. You want to change the oil. But you also want to pack a car emergency kit, and keep it in an easily accessible location in the car. The kit should have food and water in case you are stranded, as well as roadside flares and first aid supplies.
